Ronald Romain
CEO & President – United Companies
Ronald Romain is the owner, President, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of United Companies which is comprised of Professional Transportation, Inc. (PTI), the Romain Automotive Group (RAG), and United Leasing, Inc. (ULI).
Mr. Romain holds a degree in Marketing from the University of Southern Indiana (USI). He is active in a number of civic and charitable organizations including St Mary’s Hospital Board of Directors, Welborn Baptist Foundation Board of Directors, Signature School Foundation and Evansville Regional Business Committee.
Amy Romain-Barron
Vice-President – United Companies
Amy Romain-Barron began her career as the third generation with United Companies in 1999 and currently holds the position of Vice President with the company. Ms. Romain is directly involved with the day to day business operations of PTI and Romain Automotive Group. She is also a member of the company’s Steering Committee which directly involves leading the United Companies’ Quality Improvement Process.
Ms. Romain graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University (Bloomington.)
She has been involved in numerous civic and community organizations including President of the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation Foundation, YWCA Board Member, Habitat for Humanity, Leadership Evansville Vice President and Board Member.
Rick Schulz
CFO – United Companies
Rick Schulz started with United Companies (UC) in 1992 as Chief Financial Officer and directly manages the company’s Finance, Treasury, and Management Information Systems. Prior to his tenure with UC, Mr. Schulz worked in Public Accounting and held various financial management positions with RCA, General Electric, and Thomson Consumer Electronics.
Mr. Schulz graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Indianapolis. Rick earned the CPA designation in 1986 and is a member of American Institute of CPAs. Mr. Schulz and his family live in Evansville, IN where he is actively involved in numerous philanthropic organizations.
Marvin Kemper
Vice-President of Administration – United Companies
Marvin Kemper joined United Companies in October, 2011 as the Vice President of Administration. He is responsible for the property management including real estate acquisition and disposal, new construction, renovations, and facilities management.
Mr. Kemper previously was employed 20 years with the Daughters of Charity as the Administrator of Operations and Properties as well as Kimball International as the Facilities and Operations Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University in Construction Technology and a Master of Science degree from the University of Evansville in Public Service Administration.
Active in the community, Mr. Kemper is involved in various community organizations such as St. Vincent’s Center for Children and Families’ Board Member, Seton Harvest Board Member, German Township Volunteer Fire Department Board Member and Volunteer and Construction Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity.
Robert Sholly
Vice-President of Human Resources – United Companies
Robert G. Sholly is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania, and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication. He furthered his education completing all Master of Arts course work in Management Communications at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, with Phi Kappa Phi honors.
Mr. Sholly joined United Companies as Director of Human Resources in October of 1999. In September of 2006, he was promoted to Vice President of Human Resources for United Companies.
Mr. Sholly is responsible for the strategic and functional human resources direction of United Companies and its business groups: United Leasing, Inc., Professional Transportation, Inc., and Romain Automotive Group. The company currently employs approximately 6,100 people throughout the United States.
Brad Harrison
Vice-President of Accounting – United Companies
Brad Harrison is a graduate of Ball State University and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Mr. Harrison is a Certified Public Accountant. Upon graduation, he joined Citizens Bank in Evansville, Indiana initially in the Commercial Credit Department and was subsequently promoted to Commercial Loan Officer.
In 1978, Mr. Harrison joined an Evansville based Accounting Firm. Over the next 10 years he received a number of promotions and became a Partner in the Firm. In 1992, Mr. Harrison founded the Accounting Firm, Vowells, Harrison and Co. CPA’s focusing on Accounting and Taxation for clients in the Evansville area.
One of the larger clients of the Firm was Ronald Romain and United Leasing, Inc. In that capacity, Mr. Harrison was involved as a consultant in the formation of both Romain Buick, Inc and Professional Transportation, Inc.
In 1998, he joined United Leasing, Inc. of Evansville, Indiana as Director of Accounting managing the daily accounting functions for the Leasing Company. Mr. Harrison was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Accounting for United Companies. In this capacity, he is currently responsible for the management of all accounting functions and accounting personnel employed by the four primary Business Units.
Steve McClellan
Vice-President – Professional Transportation, Inc.
Steve McClellan was named vice president of Professional Transportation, Inc (PTI) effective January 1, 2009. McClellan served as director of operations during his tenure with PTI, beginning January, 2007. Prior to joining PTI, McClellan performed roles of executive vice president, chief financial officer and business development director in the property development and construction industry. McClellan also has 12 years experience in the interstate natural gas transmission industry performing management responsibilities in operations and customer service.
McClellan received a M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from Kentucky Wesleyan College.
He most recently was elected to the Board of Gilda’s Club of Evansville, IN. McClellan’s prior activities include serving as a board member of the Owensboro, KY based Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club, member of the Kentucky Industrial Development Council and graduate of Leadership West Kentucky.
Bob Tevault
Vice-President of Strategic Planning and Special Projects – Professional Transportation, Inc.
From 1994 to 2008, Bob Tevault led PTI’s day-to-day operations of the division. On January 1, 2009, Mr. Tevault assumed the newly-created position of Vice President of Strategic Planning & Special Projects for PTI. In this position, Mr. Tevault assists in the development and execution of PTI’s long-term strategic plans and increasing risk management requirements.
Mr. Tevault holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Indiana.
