EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Tepe Park Neighborhood Association is receiving a grant of $50,000 from Golf Gives Back, Inc. for renovations and resources for its clubhouse in Evansville.

Funds from the grant will be used to renovate, update, and outfit the clubhouse located at 1212 S. Garvin St.  The goal of the grant is to transform the structure, built in 1900, into a functional and comfortable shared space for neighborhood activities.

Local nonprofit Community One will work with a resident-led revitalization initiative in the neighborhood with an aim to improve residents’ quality of life, according to the release.

As the lead agency, Community One will receive and administer the grant funds on behalf of the neighborhood for renovations that include repairs to the roof and gutters along with interior remodeling to create open space for meetings, new furniture, new restrooms, kitchen upgrades, updated heating, air conditioning and technology upgrades. Those improvements are intended to ensure the space can be used for educational activities for residents of all ages.

The 2016 Evansville Neighborhoods Condition Report showed the Tepe Park neighborhood has the city’s highest poverty rates (34.25% vs. 14.9% citywide) and the highest concentration of vacant homes (34.95% vs. 13.5% citywide).

The funds were generated by the United Leasing & Finance Championships, which will now be the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance.

The 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Championship will take place Aug. 30 through Sept. 2 at Victoria National in Newburgh.
